We had a very good get together in The Market Hall Saxmundham on Saturday morning 12th May in an ‘open clinic’ style when over 100 members of the community looked in during the course of the morning to share their ideas for the future of Saxmundham and see what other ideas were also being talked about. Initial ideas were summarized on display panels on which residents were able to indicate their support and we collected a large number of new ideas and comments in a separate area where large blank sheets had been prepared to enable residents to write down their ideas and comments too.
All this information is now being collated and analysed and will provide useful guidance and help towards compiling the Town Survey Questionnaire. Whilst it is still early days it is clear from the number of people who joined in that there has been no diminution of support or enthusiasm by the community for this Town Plan project and it is our intention to maintain ‘face to face’ contact right through to completion of the survey and report which will result in production of the Saxmundham Town Plan at the end of the year and this town plan will be firmly based on the needs and wants as identified by the residents of our town.
We will shortly be applying for ‘Awards for all’ Lottery funding to cover the costs of the Survey and Questionnaire and that application is only possible because of the large amount of information and help that this project has received from the community.
